Important: I live in a house with two cats. While the cats are never allowed near my yarn (it is all sealed in plastic tubs in a closed closet), they are still all under the same roof. If you are allergic to even the thought of cats, I recommend trying out another dyer. If you need suggestions, I'm always happy to share my favorites!

Another important: Currently Yeti Yarns is only available for sale in the USA. This whole business is me and me alone, and I don't have the time or brainspace as of right now to figure out international taxes and all that. I'm really sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause. However, I am an advocate for shopping local - it's better for the community and better for the environment. My Style and Philosophy

While I do sometimes dabble in the world of vibrant variegates and sassy speckles, my specialty lies in the watercolor style of dyeing. The indie dyer world has a whole bunch of super-talented dyers who mix colors in amazing ways, and I want my colors to really support those colors. Have you ever bought a yarn that looks gorgeous in a skein, but once you try to use it it's not quite what you were expecting? I've found that if you add a complementary tonal solid or soft variegate to the mix, it allows the beauty of the super special skein to shine through. Mix your brands! Mix your bases! Take chances! Make mistakes! Every thing you make should reflect the wonderful and special soul inside of you.

About Me

I’m Kalyssa, the elusive yeti behind Yeti Yarns. I tried dyeing yarn in 2016 and instantly fell in love. I’m a slow fiber crafter, but have so many ideas for how to mix and combine colors, so I decided that maybe yarn dyeing would be a better way to express my color lust. This way I can create colors and combinations, and then see what other people do with them--it’s the ultimate creative collaboration. 

I asked my mom to teach me how to crochet in 2011. I always remember her working on afghans in the waiting room while I was in ballet class, and I wanted to learn something that both had a connection to my childhood and could be useful. She is the one who taught me not to be afraid of using multiple yarns and colors at once (because it makes the projects go much faster and look more interesting). A couple years later, I wanted to try knitting, and asked my (now) mother-in-law to teach me. Now I’m pleased to be able to do both.

I’m inspired by the creative community around me, and the amazingly talented people who make it up. I’ve been so lucky to work with many incredible designers, dyers, and fiber-lovers, and I’m so grateful for them all.
